What a beginning to 2023! The volatility of the markets has made many uneasy but, at Intercontinental, we are confident in our investment philosophy. Our dynamic, global, and balanced approach to investments has stood the test of time. We use fundamental economic analysis to guide our medium and long-term structural macro-economic views; both our own best thinking, that of our expert research providers, and the pioneering research of respected academics. Diversification, robustness, risk mitigation and customization are a few of the pivotal foundations that drive our investment philosophy. Human beings are all subject to emotion and psychological factors that can affect behavior, especially when it comes to their investments. Our understanding of emotional and psychological factors that affect risk tolerance, risk appetite, market behavior and investment decisions are essential elements of our investment philosophy. Our assessments of financial behavior in tandem with fundamental economic and financial analysis can lead to better-focused investment insights and portfolios. Taking into consideration factors that affect market behavior is an important part of the evaluation of investments.Bottom line, even in times of volatility, we never waver and stick to our tried-and-true investment philosophy. The beginning of 2023 has been a busy one for the Intercontinental team! Earlier this month, Isidoro, Kenny, and Alfredo had the pleasure of attending the inaugural Blackstone Summit in New York City, which was a great experience bringing together leaders from leading RIAs across the country for networking opportunities and educational sessions on private market investing, with highlights on real estate, credit, and private equity, as well as discussions on business building and driving value for clients. Already looking forward to next year’s Summit!

In addition, in February, Financial Advisor Savion Harris was named a 'Top Black Rising Star of the Year' in Wealth Solutions Report’s Pathfinder Awards, recognizing Top Black Industry Leaders of 2023 in honor of Black History Month. Savion has made a huge impact on our firm since joining in mid-2021 after graduating from the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he played on the football team. His experience on the field led him to become instrumental in one of the first “name, image and likeness” (NIL) deals in the financial services industry, as Intercontinental entered into a NIL contract with UTSA’s star safety, Rashad Wisdom.

In addition, Savion recently joined UTSA’s Alumni Association Board of Directors as its youngest member in history. Congratulations, Savion!

Previously, Intercontinental was named 'Family Office of the Year' in Wealth Solutions Report’s 2022 Wealth Exemplar Awards, and Isidoro was named 'Hispanic Entrepreneur of the Year' and a Hispanic Top Industry Leader of 2022 in Wealth Solutions Report's Pathfinder Awards for National Hispanic Heritage Month. We thank Wealth Solutions Report for their continued recognition!
