Alfredo La Rosa, CFA
Executive Vice President, Chief Investment Officer

A native of Lima, Peru, Alfredo serves as Principal with Intercontinental and directs all trading and research activities. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), he chairs the Investment Committee and oversees the Portfolio Management process. His team blends intellect and experience in the creation of investment portfolios. Known widely for his skills, Alfredo is able to attract some of the best and brightest to our organization.

Prior to joining Intercontinental in 1994, Alfredo served as Chief Financial Officer for Hermes Inversiones S.A., a group of marketing services companies in Bogota, Colombia. In Lima, he held the position of Project Manager for Grana y Montero Empresarios S.A., a subsidiary of one of Peru’s largest construction companies.

Alfredo holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru. In addition to the CFA designation, he also holds a Master of Business Administration and a Master’s of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.

Jerry Orosco
Vice President and Portfolio Manager

Jerry has been with Intercontinental since 1997 and manages the Florida office. Born in Washington, D.C., Jerry grew up in Lima, Peru. He received his BA in Business Management, with a concentration in International Business, from The University of Texas at San Antonio. He is a Deacon at West Hialeah Baptist Church in Miami and serves as Vice President for the Family & Money Matters Institute.

Daniel Garza, CFA
Senior Research Analyst

Daniel Garza was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. He joined the firm in 2019, having spent several years earlier in his career in banking in Monterrey.

Daniel graduated from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education with a degree in mechanical engineering and earned his MBA from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Pablo Sotomayor
Portfolio Manager

Pablo joined the firm in 2007. He attended the University of the Incarnate Word where he received his Bachelor’s in Business Management with a concentration in Finance. When not working at Intercontinental or enjoying time with his three young children, Pablo is an avid tennis player. With his volunteer hours, he serves as an advocate for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as well as The San Antonio Humane Society. Both causes are near and dear to Pablo.

Fernanda Novaes
Portfolio Manager

Fernanda joined Intercontinental in December of 2012 after moving to San Antonio from Miami. In Miami, she graduated summa cum laude from Florida International University with a B.B.A. in Finance and a Minor in Economics. She began her career interning for the ultra-high-net-worth team at Merrill Lynch. After graduating, Fernanda worked as an Analyst in the Private Wealth Management – Latin America division at Lehman Brothers and later Barclays Capital. In 2021, Fernanda earned a Certificate in Alternative Investments from Harvard Business School Online. She is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, and French and holds Series 3, 7, 9, 63, and 66 licenses.

In her free time, Fernanda takes an interest in interior design and loves hosting 'churrascos' for friends and family. She resides in San Antonio with her husband, Cullen, and young daughter, Joana.

Nestor Hernandez
Portfolio Manager

Originally from Torreon, Mexico, Nestor joined Intercontinental in 2015 after receiving his B.B.A in Finance from The University of Texas at San Antonio. During this endeavor, Nestor participated in three study abroad programs in reputable Universities in Canada, India and China. He also formed part of the Investment Society at UTSA, a Finance student organization that manages an actual investment portfolio, as a Senior Analyst.

Adrian Devoto
Portfolio Manager

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Adrian spent his childhood in Argentina, Ecuador and Guatemala. He came to the United States in 1998 to attend The University of Texas at San Antonio from which he graduated cum laude in 2001 with a Bachelor’s in Business Management and a concentration in International Business.

Upon graduating, Adrian worked first for Enterprise Rent-A-Car where he became Assistant Manager at the age of 23. Next he joined JPMorgan Chase and served as a Customer Service Representative in several of their departments in Texas and Missouri. Adrian joined Intercontinental as a Portfolio Manager in 2007.
